José Victoriano González-Pérez (23 March 1887 – 11 May 1927), better known as Juan Gris, was a Spanish painter born in Madrid who lived and worked in France for most of his active period. Closely connected to the innovative artistic genre Cubism, his works are among the movement's most distinctive.

His work was influenced by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. His best-known works include The Blue Carpet, Carafe and Book, The Bottle of Anís del Mono, and Portrait of Pablo Picasso. He focused on abstract art, analytical cubism, and figurative art.

Within his body of work, the Synthetic Cubism current is dominant.
