Collection: Bert Geer Phillips

Bert Geer Phillips (1868–1956) was an American artist. He was a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists and settled in Taos, New Mexico Territory, in 1898. Phillips was instrumental in establishing the Taos art colony.

His artistic output concentrated on depictions of Native Americans, the landscapes of New Mexico, and the broader American Southwest.

Phillips also served as a benefactor for the Western artist Harold Dow Bugbee, who later became curator of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas, in 1951.
