Carl Nathanael Burckhardt (1878–1923) was a Swiss painter and sculptor. Born in Lindau and dying in Ligornetto, he developed a practice that, while modernist in its broader context, consistently drew upon Neoclassical inspiration for its subject matter.
As both a painter and sculptor, Burckhardt's artistic singularity lay in his consistent engagement with Neoclassically inspired themes. This approach shaped his choice of subjects throughout his career, distinguishing his modernist output.
