Collection: Cecco del Caravaggio

Cecco del Caravaggio, likely Francesco Boneri or Buoneri, was an Italian Baroque painter active in Rome from approximately 1610 to the mid-1620s. Born around 1589 and dying around 1620, he was a pupil and model of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, with whom he maintained a close relationship. He became an important early follower of Caravaggio's style.

The artist responded to Caravaggio's naturalism in a highly individual and original manner. His work demonstrates a distinct interpretation within the Caravaggesque style.
