Johann Philipp Eduard Gaertner (1801–1877) was a German painter who specialized in urban architecture and vedutas. Born in Berlin, he became a significant figure in the Biedermeier period, documenting the appearance of cities through his art.

Gaertner's oeuvre primarily consists of detailed city views, particularly of Berlin between 1828 and 1870. His works are noted for their precision and picturesque quality, capturing the historical urban landscape. He also traveled to Russia in 1837 and 1838, producing views of Saint Petersburg and Moscow.
