Collection: Edward Angelo Goodall

Edward Angelo Goodall (1819–1908) was a British landscape and orientalist painter, illustrator, and engraver. Born into the Goodall family of artists, he established himself as a prolific watercolourist. His extensive travels informed much of his output, which encompassed both European vistas and scenes from more distant lands.

Goodall's artistic practice involved depicting diverse subjects, from the architectural grandeur of "Island and church of S. Giorgio Maggiore, Venice" to the bustling "The Corn Market, Tangier." He also created detailed "Studies of Mummy cases and Mummies," reflecting an interest in archaeological and ethnographic subjects. His work as an illustrator included reportage from war zones.
