Edward Moran (1829–1901) was an English-born American painter. He was born in Bolton, England, on August 19, 1829, and later died in New York, NY, on June 8, 1901. Moran dedicated his artistic practice to marine art, specializing in depicting maritime subjects.

Moran is recognized for his extensive body of marine art. He created a series of thirteen paintings depicting the maritime history of the United States, which were exhibited at the Chicago Columbian Exposition.
