Collection: Edward William Cooke

Edward William Cooke (1811–1880) was an English landscape and marine painter, born in London. He was also active as an engraver, etcher, graphic artist, and illustrator. Beyond his artistic practice, Cooke pursued interests as a gardener and scholar, becoming a member of the Royal Society and the Zoological Society of London.

Cooke dedicated his artistic practice to marine and landscape subjects, with a particular focus on coastlines, harbor scenes, and various types of ships. His work as an engraver and etcher complemented his painting, allowing for the reproduction and dissemination of his detailed observations of maritime environments.
