Collection: Eliphalet Frazer Andrews

Eliphalet Frazer Andrews (1835–1915) was an American painter, primarily a portraitist. Born in Steubenville, United States, he established an art instruction curriculum at the Corcoran School of Art at the behest of William Wilson Corcoran. He served as the school's director from 1877 to 1902, dying in Washington D.C.

Andrews executed numerous commissions for both original portraits and copies of deceased famous Americans. His works, which also included genre, interior, and landscape subjects, are displayed in federal, state, and local institutions. Collections holding his art include the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Ohio State Capitol, The White House, and the United States Capitol.
