Collection: Eliseo Sala

Eliseo Sala (1813–1879) was an Italian painter. Born in Milan, he undertook his studies at the Brera Academy between 1832 and 1838, training under Luigi Sabatelli. He subsequently traveled to Venice before arriving in Rome in 1840, where he established a friendship with Francesco Coghetti.

Sala's artistic output encompassed genre paintings and historical subjects, though he was particularly adept at realistic portraiture. This specialization contributed to his standing as a painter. Several of his works are held in national collections, including the Modern Art Gallery and the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
