Collection: Eliseu Visconti

Eliseu Visconti (born Eliseo D'Angelo, 1866–1944) was an Italian-born Brazilian painter, cartoonist, and teacher. He received training and was active in Brazil, where he became identified as one of the country's few Impressionist painters. Visconti is also recognized for initiating the Art Nouveau movement in Brazil, marking a significant stylistic shift in the national art scene.

Visconti's artistic practice introduced Impressionist principles to Brazil, distinguishing his approach within the local context. His work often explored themes and subjects through a lens informed by the transient effects of light and color, characteristic of Impressionism. Concurrently, he pioneered the Art Nouveau style, integrating its decorative and organic forms into Brazilian art.

Active across the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Visconti's contributions established him as a significant figure in Brazilian plastic arts during this period. His dual role in advancing both Impressionism and Art Nouveau positioned him as an influential artist, shaping the trajectory of modern art in Brazil.
