Collection: Emanuel Murant

Emanuel Murant (1622–1700) was a Dutch painter active during the Baroque period, specifically the Dutch Golden Age. Born on December 22, 1622, he traveled through France for an extended period. Murant settled in Leeuwarden, where he married in 1670. His artistic output primarily focused on landscapes and depictions of houses.

Murant's canvases feature detailed renderings of architectural subjects and natural environments. His work "It pleisterplak" was acquired by the Rijksmuseum in 1897 with financial assistance from the Rembrandt Association. Additional works by Murant are preserved in the Fries Museum.
