Collection: Eric Kennington
Eric Henri Kennington (1888–1960) was an English sculptor, artist, and illustrator. He served as an official war artist in both the First and Second World Wars. In this capacity, Kennington specialized in depicting the daily hardships endured by soldiers and airmen, a focus that defined a significant part of his artistic output.
In the inter-war period, Kennington concentrated on portraits and book illustrations, notably for T. E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom. As a sculptor, he executed works such as the 24th Division War Memorial in Battersea Park and the effigy of T. E. Lawrence at Wareham in Dorset. He also contributed to the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
