Estêvão Roberto da Silva (around 1844, Rio de Janeiro – 1891, Rio de Janeiro) was an Afro-Brazilian painter and art teacher. He received his training at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts (AIBA), becoming the first significant Afro-Brazilian painter to be educated there.
Silva specialized in still lifes, a genre through which he explored detailed compositions and precise rendering. He is recognized for his significant contributions to this art form, distinguishing his output in Brazilian art during the second half of the 19th century.
Posthumously, Silva was named the Patron of the 35th chair of the Brazilian Academy of Fine Arts. This designation acknowledges his lasting impact and significant contributions to the development of Brazilian painting.
