Collection: Ettore Tito

Ettore Tito (1859–1941) was an Italian painter, illustrator, and medailleur. Born in Castellammare di Stabia, he spent most of his life in Venice, where he trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti. He was accepted into the Accademia at age 12, studied with Pompeo Marino Molmenti, and graduated at 17. From 1894 to 1927, Tito served as Professor of Painting at the same institution.

Tito's oeuvre primarily comprises paintings depicting contemporary life and landscapes in Venice and its environs. He also created portraits, vedute, and mythological and religious works. His artistic approach drew inspiration from the works of the later Venetian Republic.

Tito exhibited his work widely, receiving the Grand Prize in painting at the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. In 1926, he became a member of the Royal Academy of Italy.
