Collection: Eugen von Blaas

Eugen von Blaas (1843-1931) was an Italian painter associated with Academic Classicism. Born in Albano, near Rome, to Austrian parents, he moved to Venice with his family when his father, Karl Blaas, became a professor at the Venice Academy. Eugen von Blaas later also served as a professor at the same institution in Venice.

Blaas specialized in genre painting, often depicting scenes of daily life in Venice. His work "Head of a boy" dates to around 1880.
