Collection: Federico Beltrán Masses
Federico Beltrán Masses (1885–1949) was a Spanish painter born in Güira de la Melena, Cuba. He spent his youth in Barcelona, where he began his artistic training at the Escola de la Llotja, before continuing his studies in Madrid under Joaquín Sorolla. He later moved to Paris in 1916, where he achieved significant success.
His paintings feature rich color, psychological portraiture, and evocative images of women. His work shows Symbolist influences, often employing dramatic nocturnal settings and a distinctive color palette, sometimes referred to as "Beltrán blue."
Beltrán Masses exhibited internationally during the early twentieth century. After a period of obscurity following his death, his reputation has been revived through recent exhibitions and scholarly interest.
