Collection: Ferdinand Richardt

Joachim Ferdinand Richardt (1819–1895) was a Danish-American landscape painter and draftsman. Born in Brede, Denmark, he received his early training and established his career there before emigrating. He later settled in Oakland, California, and is associated with the Hudson River School.

In Denmark, Richardt primarily produced lithographs depicting castles and manor houses. After his emigration to the United States, his artistic focus shifted to landscape painting, specializing in detailed views of Niagara Falls and other American natural scenery.
