Filippo Palizzi (1818–1899) was an Italian painter, born in Vasto, Abruzzo, and of Neapolitan formation. He was a precursor of Verismo, an artistic movement emphasizing naturalism. His brothers, Francesco Paolo, Giuseppe, and Nicola, also became painters.
Palizzi primarily depicted rural genre scenes, often featuring animals, particularly goats. His artistic output also included historical genre paintings, portraits, and landscapes, alongside his focus on everyday life and animal subjects.
As one of the significant Italian artists of the second half of the 19th century, Palizzi was among the most original precursors of Verismo in painting, influencing the development of naturalistic representation in Italian art.
