Francisco Pradilla y Ortiz (1848–1921) was a Spanish painter and draftsman. Born in Villanueva de Gállego near Zaragoza, he developed a realist style, primarily focusing on historical scenes. His artistic output also included genre, portrait, and landscape painting.

Pradilla y Ortiz dedicated his prolific career to the depiction of historical moments, a genre for which he became widely recognized. His broader oeuvre encompassed genre scenes, portraits, and landscapes, demonstrating a versatile engagement with diverse subjects.

Beyond his painting practice, Pradilla y Ortiz held significant administrative roles within the Spanish art establishment. He served as the director of the Real Academia de España in Rome and later as the director of the Museo del Prado from 1896 to 1898.
