François-Auguste Biard (1799–1882) was a French painter and draftsman. Born in Lyon, he later died near Fontainebleau. Biard's artistic output aligned with the Romantic movement, often reflecting his extensive travels and the diverse experiences gained from them.

Biard's oeuvre frequently featured genre scenes derived from his adventurous journeys to various parts of the world. He depicted subjects from exotic locales, as seen in works like Habits of the Women of Eastern Tartary and Turkish Dresses, which illustrate his observations of different cultures. He also served as an official portraitist for the court of Louis Philippe I.
