Collection: François Chifflart

François-Nicolas Chifflart (1825–1901) was a French painter, draftsman, illustrator, and graphic artist. Born in Saint-Omer, he established his artistic career primarily in Paris, where he worked across a range of pictorial and graphic media, including etching.

Chifflart's artistic practice encompassed various graphic techniques, particularly etching and drawing. He created illustrations for the works of novelist Victor Hugo, a notable aspect of his output. His subjects included allegorical compositions, as seen in The Triumph of Justice and Truth (1865), and mythological themes, exemplified by Hercules (1865).
