Collection: Gaston Bussière

Gaston Bussière (1862–1928) was a French Symbolist painter and illustrator. Born in Cuisery, he established his career within the Symbolist movement, creating works that often drew upon mythological and literary narratives. He died in Saulieu.

As a Symbolist, Bussière's oeuvre included paintings such as Brunnhild (1898), which exemplifies his engagement with mythological subjects. He also contributed significantly as an illustrator, notably for publications like L'Estampe Moderne, a collection of original prints by contemporary artists. His illustrations often depicted figures and scenes, as seen in works like Woman (Elevation) or Pardon in Brittany.
