Giovanni Battista Felice Castagneto, also known as João Batista Castagneto, was an Italo-Brazilian painter, draftsman, teacher, restorer, and sailor. Born in Italy, he lived and worked predominantly in Brazil, contributing to Brazilian landscape painting, particularly marine subjects, at the end of the 19th century. He is associated with Impressionism.
Castagneto specialized in marine and coastal landscapes, depicting seascapes with an Impressionistic approach. His work significantly contributed to Brazilian landscape painting.
He was designated the Patron of the 29th chair of the Brazilian Academy of Fine Arts.
