Collection: Giovanni Mataloni

Giovanni Maria Mataloni (1869–1944) was an Italian poster art designer, illustrator, and lithographer. Born in Rome, he became an exponent of Stile Liberty, the Italian Art Nouveau. Mataloni is considered a progenitor of Italian poster design.

Mataloni's output included commercial poster art, such as "Società-Anonima per la Incandescenza a Gas Brevetto Auer…" (1895) and "Bec Auer" (1897), alongside illustrations and portraits. His work exemplified the graphic aesthetics of the Art Nouveau period in Italy.

His contributions to poster design placed him among figures like Leonetto Cappiello and Adolfo Hohenstein, shaping the early development of the medium in Italy.
