Collection: Jean Baptiste de Champaigne

Jean Baptiste de Champaigne (1631–1681) was a Flemish-born French Baroque painter and teacher. Born in Brussels, he received his training as a pupil of his uncle, the painter Philippe de Champaigne. He established himself as a painter and decorator, working in France until his death in Paris.

Champaigne's oeuvre included history paintings and portraits. He also received commissions for decorative works, notably executing paintings for French royal palaces.
