Collection: José Dominguez Alvarez

José Cândido Dominguez Alvarez was a Portuguese painter identified with the second wave of Portuguese modernism. His oeuvre includes works such as L'Improviste (1938) and Laughing Mannequins (1930), which are part of the collection at the Art Institute of Chicago. The Victoria and Albert Museum also holds his works, including Monstera (1968-69) and multiple iterations of Focus (1964-65).
