Léon Augustin Lhermitte (31 July 1844 – 28 July 1925) was a French naturalist painter and etcher whose primary subject matter was rural scenes depicting peasants at work.

He trained under Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran. Among his most cited paintings: Paying the harvesters and Death and the Woodcutter. His practice is associated with Naturalism. His oeuvre falls under Realism.
