Léon Herbo (1850–1907) was a Belgian painter born in Templeuve and active until his death in Ixelles. He primarily worked as a portraitist and genre painter, also engaging with Orientalist themes. His oeuvre reflects the academic traditions prevalent in late 19th-century Belgian art.
Herbo's artistic practice focused on portraits, particularly depicting women in casual poses and figures from the theatrical world. He also executed genre scenes, frequently incorporating Orientalist subjects. His wife often served as a model for his compositions. Examples include the portrait "Madame Léon Clapisson" (1883) and the historical genre scene "Chariot Race" (1876). He also worked as an art critic.
