Collection: Louis Janmot

Anne-François-Louis Janmot (1814–1892) was a French painter and poet. Born in Lyon, he was active in the city and associated with the École de Lyon.

Janmot's artistic output bridged Romanticism and Symbolism, exhibiting mystical, idealistic, and Catholic tendencies. His work shared affinities with the German Nazarenes and the English Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

His oeuvre positions him as a transitional figure between the Romantic and Symbolist movements.
