Louis Adolphe Soutter (1871–1942) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist. Born in Morges, he produced most of his work in the Art Brut style while under care in a hospice in Ballaigues. Soutter also worked as a musician, playing the violin.
Soutter's artistic output, with its raw and unmediated quality, aligns with the principles of Art Brut. His subjects included figures, as seen in works like "Nudes in Trees" and "L'Elegant." He created graphic works, reflecting a distinct personal vision developed during his time in institutional care.
A significant portion of Soutter's oeuvre is held by the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne. He is counted among the important representatives of Art Brut, a movement that valued art created outside the conventional art world.
