Collection: Ludwig Knaus
Ludwig Knaus (1829-1910) was a German painter and draftsman. Born in Wiesbaden, he later worked in Berlin and became a significant representative of the Düsseldorf school of painting. Knaus was a co-founder and member of the Künstler-Verein Malkasten Düsseldorf from 1848 until his death.
Knaus primarily focused on genre painting, often depicting scenes of folk life and the lives of children. He also practiced as a portrait painter.
His works achieved broad dissemination through engravings and photographs, contributing to their widespread recognition during the latter half of the 19th century.
