Mårten Eskil Winge (1825–1896) was a Swedish artist and professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. He was associated with the Düsseldorf school of painting. His art was influenced by Norse mythology themes, a characteristic shared with contemporaries Nils Blommér and Carl Wahlbom, and contributed to Swedish romantic nationalism, also known as Gothicism.
Winge specialized in historical painting, depicting sagas and dramatic scenes from Swedish history. His compositions often imbued these narratives with a sense of epic grandeur. His painting Thor in the battle against the giants (1872) exemplifies this focus on Nordic mythology and historical narrative, representing the Swedish school of historical painting contemporary with the Düsseldorf school.
Winge's work, alongside that of his friend and creative associate August Malmström, made a substantial contribution to Swedish romantic nationalism, known as Gothicism. He was married to the artist Hanna Mathilda Tengelin-Winge.
