Moritz Stifter was an Austrian genre painter and the nephew of Adalbert Stifter (1805–1868).
Stifter's compositions frequently depict elegant interior and studio scenes, often featuring young ladies in refined dresses and alluring poses. He also created narrative works, such as A Hermit Leading his Horse to Water (1840).
