Collection: Peter Nikolay Arbo

Peter Nicolai Arbo (1831–1892) was a Norwegian historical painter. He specialized in portraits and large narrative scenes from Norwegian history and Norse mythology. Arbo was a representative of the Düsseldorf School, a significant center for historical painting during his period.

Arbo's artistic output frequently engaged with dramatic subjects derived from Norse mythology. His painting The Wild Hunt of Odin (1872) illustrates the Wild Hunt legend, while his two versions of Valkyrie (1865) depict the female figure from Norse mythology.
