Collection: Sahib Ram

Sahib Ram (1892–1977) was born in Punjab and trained as a grammarian and Sikh religious scholar at Khalsa College in Amritsar. He later served as a professor at the same institution, specializing in Sikh theology and textual analysis.

Ram’s artistic output included devotional and mythological subjects rendered in watercolor and gouache. His "Boy on a Ram" (1786–87) depicts a youth astride the sacred animal, a motif recurring in his later work "Ram" (c. 1930).

He also painted "Abraham’s Sacrifice of Isaac" (1654–56), a rare biblical scene in his oeuvre, executed in a style blending Mughal miniature techniques with European chiaroscuro.
