Samuel Colman (1832–1920) was an American painter, interior designer, and writer. Born in Portland and dying in New York, he is associated with the Hudson River School. His artistic output primarily consisted of landscape paintings, often depicting the Hudson River, alongside his work in interior design and writing.
Colman's landscapes extended beyond American scenery to include European subjects. Works such as Old Tower at Avignon (c. 1875), A Cloudy Day in Venice (1881), and Olive Trees of the Riviera (c. 1875) demonstrate his engagement with architectural and natural vistas abroad. He also painted The Boompjes, Rotterdam and Montalbaans Tower, Province of North Holland, Netherlands.
