Vasily Ivanovich Surikov (24 January 1848 – 19 March 1916) was a Russian realist history painter. Many of his works have become familiar to the general public through their use as illustrations.

Among his declared influences are Ilya Repin. Notable paintings include Suvorov Crossing the Alps in 1799, Morning of the Execution of the Streltsy, Taking a Snow Town, and Boyarina Morozova. His practice spanned history painting and portrait.
