Collection: William Callow
William Callow (1812–1908) was an English landscape painter, engraver, and water colourist. Active throughout the 19th century, he established a practice centered on rendering diverse topographical and natural scenes. His work encompassed various locales, reflecting his engagement with both urban and natural environments.
Callow's oeuvre includes detailed depictions of European cities, such as Market Place, Frankfort (1863) and The Entrance to the Harbor of Marseilles (c. 1838). He also rendered coastal views, as seen in Coast Scene (1869), and riverine landscapes like On the Thames. His watercolors often captured architectural subjects alongside natural formations, as exemplified by The Temple of Vesta and the Falls at Tivoli (1859).
