Collection: Erasmus Quellinus II

Erasmus Quellinus II (Antwerp, 1607–1678) was a Flemish Baroque painter, engraver, draughtsman, and tapestry designer. He trained under Peter Paul Rubens and collaborated closely with him in the 1630s. Quellinus worked across various genres, including history, portraiture, allegorical, battle, and animal paintings.

Quellinus was a prolific draughtsman, creating designs for decorative programs in official celebrations, for local publishers, and for tapestries and sculptures executed by local workshops. His oeuvre demonstrates a Classicist trend within the Baroque style. He belonged to an artistic family, with his father Erasmus Quellinus I and brother Artus Quellinus primarily working as sculptors.
