Collection: Frédéric Bazille

Jean Frédéric Bazille (December 6, 1841 – November 28, 1870) was a French Impressionist painter. Many of Bazille's major works are examples of figure painting in which he placed the subject figure within a landscape painted en plein air.

Charles Gleyre taught him. His best-known works include Bazille's Studio, The Pink Dress, View of the Village, and Réunion de famille. He focused on still life, genre painting, and landscape painting. He is identified with French Realism, Barbizon school, and Impressionism. He belongs to the Realism movement.
