Collection: Marian Wawrzeniecki

Marian Wawrzeniecki was born in Warsaw in 1863 and died there in 1943. He trained under Jan Matejko and became a member of the Academy of Learning in Kraków. Alongside painting, he worked as an art historian, archaeologist, and ethnographer, donating his collections to the Public Library of the Capital City of Warsaw.

Wawrzeniecki produced portraits in both traditional and Cubist styles, including "Portret Kubistyczny" (c. 1930) and depictions of figures such as Marian Anderson (1945) and Marian Marsh (1931).

In the 1970s, his designs appeared on Polish circus posters, including "Five Tumbling Men" (1974) and "Three Men on Bicycles" (1975), blending graphic clarity with dynamic composition.
