Bartholomaeus Spranger (1546 to 1611) was a Flemish painter and court artist whose allegorical works bridged the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. His mythological subjects, rendered with technical virtuosity and imaginative composition, made him influential across Northern Europe and a favored painter of the Habsburg court in Prague.
